We invite you to immerse yourself in our monastic heritage, both cultural and sensory, as it is embodied and experienced in what many consider the most beautiful monastery in Crete!
This tour will combine the spiritual heritage (architectural, plastic arts, iconographic, folklore, and liturgical) with essential life elements—wheat, wine, and olive oil. The tour will specifically include:
- Guided Tour: An exploration of the architectural, iconographic, and artistic history of the monastery led by our theologian associate.
- Wine Tasting: Sampling three wine varieties from the Akrotiri vineyards in the monastery's cellar, presented by our chemist associate.
- Cold Plate: A cold plate featuring bread, olives, dakos, and graviera cheese.
- Culinary Experience: The tasting experience will start with a small piece of bread (prosphoron—an essential element of the Divine Liturgy), the main dish consists of “gemista” (stuffed vegetables with rice and herbs), “gigantes” (butter beans with tomato sauce) and traditional green salad and it will end with kolyva (a dish that connects the living with the deceased) as a dessert.
